Half-day workshop on Integrated analysis to improve response to HIV epidemic & Open lecture on Balancing HIV prevention and care – a policy level perspective
Organised by the Special Preventive Programme, Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, the captioned workshop and open lecture will be held on 20 April 2006 (Thursday) 2:00pm to 5:40pm (workshop) & 6:15pm to 7:30pm (open lecture) at Exhibition Hall, 1/F Public Health Laboratory Centre. The speaker for both activities is Dr. Tim BROWN, Senior Fellow, Population and Health Studies at the East West Center , Honolulu , Hawaii .
The workshop aims to improve participants' understanding on HIV epidemiology and to facilitate the effective use of relevant data to improve responses to the HIV epidemic. During the workshop, guided small group discussion will be arranged for participants to look into actual data and issues on latest local HIV situation. In the open lecture, Dr. BROWN will address the key issue on a balanced HIV prevention and treatment programme when effective but costly treatment is available and being widely scaled up, based on his vigorous analyses using HIV mathematical models.
Individuals with experience or are interested in HIV epidemiology or HIV prevention programme planning, public health and infectious disease professionals and trainees are invited to join. Deadline for registration is 12 April 2006 . Please refer to the below link for details:
