HIV Prevention and Health Promotion
Government Programmes on AIDS - Education Bureau
The Education Bureau (EDB) is committed to promoting the whole-person development of students and attaches importance to nurturing our young people into healthy new generations. Through providing curriculum guides, developing learning and teaching resources, and providing training for teachers, etc., the EDB supports schools in promoting values education (including sex education) in a holistic and integrated approach to achieve the learning goals, including maintaining the proper values and attitudes, and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Sex education is an integral part of the school curriculum that aims to help students grow healthily, face and discern sexuality issues, and practice positive values and attitudes.
HIV prevention and health education constitute an important part of the school curriculum. Apart from enhancing students' awareness of HIV/AIDS and relevant protective skills for prevention of HIV infection, the school curriculum facilitates developing their understanding and care for people living with HIV.
